Jireh Family Farm,LLC is a small homestead in DURHAM, NC that focuses on raising local proteins and educational agricultural classes for the community.

A small, black-owned family farm in Durham, NC 27703 hosted an outdoor, farm-to-table dinner under the stars on Friday, August 19th. The meal consisted of local, Black Angus Beef from the farm as well as seasonal veggies. The multi-course cuisine was attended by the community on the small, 4 acre homestead focusing of sourcing local pork, pasture-raised chicken, goat, and local, grass-fed beef.

Over the last five years, Jireh Family Farm has steadily grown, experiencing year-over-year growth and expanded farm-to-table products for the Raleigh-Durham community. The homestead is home to 250+ animals during peak season including over 100 egg-laying chickens, one of the highest in Durham County. Jireh Family Farm offers pork, chicken, and beef cuts, such as spicy breakfast sausage, pork baby back ribs, split chicken breasts, and rib-eye steaks directly to the public. Moreover, the farm has transformed into an agricultural community center. By expanding into summer camps, offering adult herbal classes, farm experiences, and farm-to-table dinners, stakeholders now call Jireh Family Farm a destination for Agritourism. The homesteaders have a passion for welcoming those interested in purchasing all-natural meats and creating an environment that inspires others towards self-sustainability.

Jireh Family Farm is hosting their 2nd Annual Jireh Farm Summer Day Camp. We offer six, weeklong sessions for children 5-12 years old. In these times, our children need to be outside playing, discovering, and learning new things. Kids learn agriculture, animal feeding, and harvesting. Jireh Family Farm does a first-time homestead butchering of a baby pig that was injured by his mother. .The Jarvis family participated in humanely killing, scalding, cleaning, and smoking a young, twenty-five pound piglet. Makayla, our 18 year old successful dispatched her first kill with a .22 rifle. We removed the hair easily after dunking the pig (a half at a time) in nearly boiling water. Then the Jarvis daughters helped to eviscerate the animal and were fascinated with the process. After seasoning the meat with dry BBQ rub, we sat the pig in our electric smoker for six hours and 250 degrees. The family offers permaculture pork, whole, grass-grained chicken, rabbit meat, goat meat, black angus beef, and free-range eggs for the nearby community. They also breed Great Pyrenees (livestock guardian dogs) to help protect the property.
